Evening Tide

Wanganui River, West Coast

Where the Wanganui River joins the Tasman Sea, a small hillock stands alone on the beach. I climbed up to the lookout point, fascinated by the union of earth and water, sea and river, mountain and lowland. The light drained slowly from the land as evening approached, and the reflected colours of the sky brought a simple harmony to this complex image.
