Deepwater Basin

Milford Sound, Fiordland

After photographing in Milford Sound for three rainy days I woke on the last morning to a cloudless sky. I had wanted to photograph this scene for some time but the weather had never been favourable, so with little wind and an unobstructed view of the mountains I hoped that this morning would be my chance. While most images of Mitre Peak, the Lion and other Milford peaks are taken from close proximity I love the way this photograph presents a more subtle view of this iconic location.
